"Being on a boat that's moving through the water, it's so clear. Everything falls into place in terms of what's important and what's not." - James Taylor
I believe that being on the water and at sea has many life lessons that you can learn.
First and foremost, it tells you that you are never really in control. With everything you do in life, there are always externalities; so when you are on the boat you are always watching for the elements. The waves, the oncoming boat, what is it going to do?
You are also watching out for the weather. Is it going to rain? And then the tide itself is different from the waves and so if you are heading in a particular direction, you always have to watch the tide because sometimes you have to veer left and go against that tide to get to where you are going faster.
In life, you just need to be alert with all your senses as you navigate, but you still have to take time to savour the sea breeze, drink in nature and enjoy the trip.
